San Antonio, TX 78216
Kay Simpson designs and sews the FashionABILITY clothing. The clothing line is made up of comfortable, easy-to-wear and easy-care clothing with adaptive features, such as Velcro closures instead of zippers or buttons, elasticized waistbands, raglan sleeves, and loose-fitting, rather than constricting styles, made with comfortable fabrics.
Mission: FashionABILITY designs and makes clothing that is stylish, yet easy and comfortable to wear, for women who are in wheelchairs or who have limited mobility.
Who is eligible to receive services through this program?: FashionABILITY clothing is available for sale to anyone. Although it is a for-profit organization, it was founded to help people with disabilities. As FashionABILITY grows, part of the clothing line will be donated to non-profit organizations that help disabled women.
Where does this program provide services?: Clothing is sold directly by the designer/founder, Kay Simpson. Customers may contact her for custom orders through her website: www.fashionability.org. Kay Simpson creates the clothing from her studio in San Antonio, Texas. Currently, clothing is by custom order. As the business grows, it will be sold online.
Do clients pay for services?: Yes
How are fees determined?: Clothing costs are determined by costs of fabric and accessories, with a margin added for profit. All fabric is high quality and selected with care. As the business grows, FashionABILITY will be able to purchase wholesale fabric in larger quantities, and the savings can be passed on to the customers.
