Program Description:

SCHI services include supervised residential domitory, Life Skills Training, Comprehensive assessment with individualized training plan, Licensed Work Training Center, job readiness and community job placement services, follow-up job coaching and retention, counseling and extensive socialization training, and psychiatric/medication consultation.


Mission: Methodist Mission Home offers hope to individuals facing spiritually, emotionally and physically challenging circumstances, so that they may lead enriched, rewarding and satisfying lives.
Ages: All
Who is eligible to receive services through this program?: Students must be at least 18 years old and have a qualifying need or diagnosed disability, must be capable of self-help skills and not present a danger to themselves or others. Student's ability to be employed, along with his/her maturity, sociability and cooperation will determine length of stay, average stay is 16-18 months.
Where does this program provide services?: Southwest Center for Higher Independence classrooms, dormitory and administrative offices are located on the Methodist Mission Home campus at 6487 Whitby Road, San Antonio, TX.
Do clients pay for services?: No
How are fees determined?: Most students are referred to us from the Department of Assistive and Rehabilitative Services (DARS).
