A collaborative team assessment of the child’s abilities in all developmental areas (concepts/problem solving; gross/fine motor; sensory processing/use of sensory channels; communication; assistive technology; self-care and feeding skills) is conducted with parent and child by a team of professionals. A realistic Learning Plan is designed. It includes specific goals and objectives outlining what the child is “ready” to learn and the strategies needed to promote successful learning.
Mission: Our mission is to provide opportunities for children with severe combined disabilities (cognitive, physical, sensory and communication) to participate actively in life’s activities at home, at school, and in the community AND to convey widespread understanding of the unique needs of this population to teachers, caregivers and the community.
Who is eligible to receive services through this program?: All children with severe combined disabilities birth through 22 yrs. Are eligible to receive services.
Where does this program provide services?: Services are provided at the TEAMability Learning Center. Home visits are conducted in order to assist the family in the creation of appropriate learning environments in the home.
Do clients pay for services?: Yes
How are fees determined?: TEAMability is a Medicaid provider and a provider for the Alamo Area Council of Governments Bexar County Mental Retardation Authority. Children with a visual impairment may be referred for services by DARS Division for Blind Services. A sliding scale is available for private pay families.
TEAMability will assist families with the processing of private insurance claims.
